Fall 2015 Shred & Recycle Event a Great Success
The Fall 2015 shred event was a big success!
After doing our Spring shredding event, we questioned whether there would be a need and interest should we decide to do another event in the Fall. Well, my concern quickly disappeared after I realized that we had helped five cars with their shredding needs and it wasn’t even 9:00 AM yet, the official start time. From then on it was asteady stream of cars with old computers, TV’s, mini-fridges and sensitive documents.
Every now and then I would leave my station at the TrueShred truck and take a quick peek at the 123 Junk truck to see how they were doing. On my second visit I got the definite feeling that closets and basements of the area were being emptied out of old gear. I have to say I was very impressed with Matthew’s precision stacking. Everything was carefully placed to make optimal usage of all the space. The truck’s 560 cubic feet bed was completely full when it came time to close the end gates.
The report from TrueShred said that we shredded 3.4 tons of paper, making us one of their more successful shredding events. Hats off to the more then 100 people that participated.
After doing four well-attended Shredding and Electronics Recycling events, it appears that there is an ongoing need for this in the community. With this in mind, we will definitely be doing another one next spring. As for the date – we are not sure at this time. We are checking for availability of the trucks and hope to be making a decision soon. Make sure to share my Facebook page with your friends, to ensure you and others don’t miss out on the next event!
Thanks again to everyone for the great turnout – see you in the spring!
